Check a Scam — Free

Hi, I'm Daniel.
I've Seen What Scams Do to Real People.

I built ScamCheck UK because I spent years on the front line, working with the FCA and the Financial Ombudsman Service, watching thousands of ordinary people lose money they couldn't afford to lose. I know how these scams work from the inside. I built this tool so you never have to face one alone.

This isn't just an AI tool. Every analysis is built on the knowledge I developed from working directly with over 5,000 UK consumers who contacted regulators for help. Some needed to check whether an investment was safe before it was too late. Others had already been scammed and needed to know what to do next.

"The thing about financial scams is that they're designed by professionals who understand exactly how to exploit trust, urgency, and hope. The only way to fight that is with knowledge — and that's what I'm here to give you."
— Daniel Kwaku Manu, Founder of ScamCheck UK

Why I Built ScamCheck UK

I didn't originally set out to build a scam detection platform. I entered financial services because I genuinely believed in protecting people. But it wasn't until I began speaking directly with consumers at the Financial Conduct Authority that I fully understood the true impact financial fraud has on ordinary people, not just financially, but emotionally.

During my time in the FCA's Supervision Hub, I personally handled, or was involved in managing, more than 5,000 consumer contacts involving investments, scams, insurance, and financial harm. Some people contacted us simply wanting reassurance that an investment opportunity they had found online was legitimate. Others called after already losing thousands of pounds to sophisticated fraudsters they would never meet.

What stayed with me was this: the victims were rarely careless or unintelligent. In many cases, they were thoughtful, cautious people who had simply encountered highly convincing scams at the wrong moment.

I kept hearing the same story repeatedly.

The scams were becoming more sophisticated, while the information needed to protect yourself remained fragmented, overly technical, and often discovered too late. I saw public warnings that many consumers never came across. I saw victims struggle to understand how to report fraud, contact their bank effectively, or navigate protections such as the APP Fraud Code and complaints processes.

Later, while working at the Financial Ombudsman Service, I investigated financial complaints end-to-end, gathering evidence, applying regulatory frameworks, and assessing what fair outcomes should look like for consumers. That experience reinforced just how thin the line can be between identifying a scam early and losing money that may never be recovered.

ScamCheck UK was created to help close that gap.

The platform is built around the same scam indicators, behavioural patterns, and risk assessment principles I encountered throughout years of working across financial regulation, complaints handling, and consumer protection. My goal is simple: to make practical scam awareness accessible, understandable, and available in plain English to anyone with a smartphone, before financial harm happens, not after.

Because in most scam cases, prevention is far more powerful than recovery.

Not Just AI — Human-Verified Analysis

ScamCheck UK combines the speed of AI with the judgement of someone who has spent years working inside UK financial regulation. Here's what that means in practice.

AI-Powered First Analysis

When you submit a scam check, our AI — powered by OpenAI GPT-4o — instantly analyses 40+ fraud indicators based on scam detection frameworks I developed from direct regulatory experience. It runs in seconds and gives you an immediate risk score.

Human Expertise Behind Every Prompt

The AI doesn't work from a generic template. Every detection rule, every red flag category, every piece of guidance it gives you is based on the real patterns I observed during over 5,000 consumer engagements at the FCA. The AI speaks; the expertise is mine.

FCA-Grounded Guidance

Every next step and regulatory note you receive is aligned with how the FCA and FOS actually operate — not just generic internet advice. I've seen what works from inside those organisations, and that's what I've built into the guidance you receive.

Detailed Review: Personal Oversight

For our Detailed Review service, I personally review your submission. Not a junior analyst — me, Daniel. I bring the same careful, empathetic approach I developed handling complaints at the FOS and consumer contacts at the FCA, applied directly to your situation.

Why does human verification matter?

AI is excellent at pattern recognition, but scams evolve constantly. What caught thousands of victims last year is being refined by criminals right now. I stay current — attending to emerging fraud patterns and updating ScamCheck's detection logic — so the tool you use today reflects what's actually happening in the UK fraud landscape, not just historical patterns.

The Principles Behind ScamCheck UK

🤝

Honesty Over Alarm

I don't exaggerate risk to drive engagement. If something looks low risk, I'll tell you that too. The only value I offer comes from being straight with you.

📖

Plain English, Always

Regulatory jargon serves regulators, not consumers. I translate FCA rules and fraud indicators into language that actually helps you make a decision.

💷

Consumer First

I've sat across from people who lost their pension savings to a scam. That experience shapes every decision I make about how this product works.

🔒

Privacy Respected

What you submit for analysis stays private. I built this for people in vulnerable situations — discretion isn't optional, it's essential.

🆓

Free Where It Matters

The core check will always be free. Premium features help sustain the service, but no-one should have to pay to find out they're about to be scammed.

📞

Accessible Support

If you're in distress, I want you to find help quickly. Every page links to Report Fraud, the FCA helpline, and real recovery resources — not just a contact form.

🛡️

Got a question? I'm here.

Whether you want to check something suspicious, need personal guidance after being scammed, or just want to talk through a concern — get in touch. I read every message personally.
